How much fruit should you eat in a day?

Since our childhood, we have been told that fruits are really good for health. They are an amazing source of vitamins, minerals, potassium, and fiber. We shall tell you a few more benefits of consuming fruits regularly.

Fruits contain powerful antioxidants such as vitamin C, beta-carotene, and phytonutrients. Fruits act as cleansers for your body. They keep your heart healthy so you can reduce your risk of problems as you get older. In fact, adding servings of fruit to your daily diet may decrease your chances of developing esophageal, stomach and lung cancer.

But it is good to be informed that excessive fruit intake can upset the stomach in some individuals. In fact, heartburn, diarrhea, reflux, and bloating are all potential side effects of eating too much fruit. High blood sugar is another side effect of fruit consumption, and can be potentially dangerous for people with diabetes.

We would like to add that it is not just the quantity but also the way of consumption that matters. Although juicing is a popular trend, it's not an ideal way to get your daily dose of fruit. The health promoting antioxidants and phytonutrients are bound to fiber but fruit juices lack fiber.

We are not scaring you. All we want to tell you is that fruits should be consumed in reasonable portions and eaten alongside other foods. Eat at least two fruits in a day. We also advise eating a variety of fruit instead of consuming your favourite one. The best part is that the sugar content in fruit is not a huge concern for most healthy adults.
